United Airlines Flight Cancellation Policy

 

Last month, I booked the United Airlines flights to San Francisco for the trip. However, due to the unavoidable circumstances, I had to cancel the flights at the last moment. Since, I went to so much trouble to cancel the tickets at the last moment, I wish somebody had suggested me to go through the United Airlines Cancellation Policy. Hence, here is the short preview of how the Cancellation policy of United Airlines looks like, so you won’t have to go through the trouble. This includes United 24-hour cancellation rule as well.

Cancellation Policy

United Airlines Cancellation Policy allows you to cancel the booked United Airlines Flights in a hassle-free way. You will get the refund for the cancellation if the ticket is eligible for the refund. Otherwise, you may be required to pay the United cancellation fee. This depends on the time of cancellation before the departure and the level of flight booking.            

Moreover, this cancellation policy is applicable in two cases: either United Airlines cancelled the flights or the passenger cancelled the booking. In case the airlines cancelled the flight, you are eligible for the refund, compensation, meals and refreshments, and discounted stay in the nearby hotel accommodation, and no United Cancellation fee will be applicable.

However, if you are the one who cancelled the flight booking, you must make sure that the cancellation is requested within 24 hours of the flight reservation. This is the United 24-hour cancellation rule you must follow. There are different rules apply when you cancel the tickets after 24-hours of the window, which includes United Cancellation fee that you have to pay if you want to get full refund for the cancellation.   

How to cancel flight ticket online?

To cancel the ticket online, you can visit the website online and click on “My Reservations” and six-digit flight number and the name of the passenger on the ticket. Then, select the “cancel” the ticket, and follow the steps to confirm the cancellation given by United Airlines.

Similar procedure is applicable for the cancellation through phone number and on the airport. You only have to give the ticket number which you want to cancel and confirm through the process asked by the United Airlines customer service.

Remember, if you want to cancel the United Airlines flight booking, you must follow the United 24 hour cancellation rule. Also, ensure if there is any United Flightcancellation fee applicable for the cancellation procedure, after the 24 hours has passed.
